Mantiqueira

Designed by Domingos Tótora

In balance between art and design, the Mantiqueira vases defy any definition in pursuit of a more concrete and sustainable vision of home decor, where beauty and respect become the key words.

Domingos Tótora encapsulates in Mantiqueira an unprecedented synthesis of nature’s ethics and craftsmanship. The vases are made through a sustainable, certified process, where recycled cardboard is broken into small fragments and reduced to a semi-liquid material, then hand-moulded into sculptural pieces, sun-dried, and subsequently finished. The almost evocative nature of the process gives the cardboard an intensity and appearance like that of its raw material: wood.

Domingos Tótora

Domingos Tótora grew up in Maria da Fé, a small town in the Serra da Mantiqueira, Brazil. A self-taught artist, he founded his studio in 2005 and chose recycled cardboard as his main material for his works of art and design: vases, fruit bowls, and furniture pieces characterised by an extraordinary beauty inspired by the colours and textures of nature, such as bark, stone, and earth.
