Le Mura

Designed by Mario Bellini

Le Mura cannot be defined as a simple sofa: it is a modular system, a manifesto of radical design from the 1970s, that combines elements of various shapes and sizes into virtually infinite configurations.

Tacchini has reissued Le Mura by Mario Bellini in full respect of the original project, conceived as a response not only to questions of aesthetics, proportions, and ergonomics, but also to social, ethical, and moral values: the result possesses an inexhaustible and overwhelming power—just as impactful today as it was then. Modularity is central, and it's already expressed in the name: like the large stones that once formed Roman walls, the elements of this system can theoretically be combined endlessly to fit spaces of any size without ever losing their strong stylistic identity.

With Le Mura, Mario Bellini shaped a manifesto of 1970s radical design, where aesthetics and social meaning merge into a project of lasting power. Tacchini reissues this icon, staying true to the original and enhancing its vocation for comfort: "Le Mura is a soft architecture, designed to welcome and transform living space into a timeless aesthetic and sensory experience."

Le Mura is more than a seating system: it is an idea of conviviality shaped in material form, a domestic architecture born from Mario Bellini’s radical vision. Tacchini reinterprets its powerful design with respect and care, bringing this 1970s masterpiece into the present: "Collaborating with Bellini’s work means engaging with the history of design, reviving a language that still speaks of freedom, modularity, and beauty."

Mario Bellini

Mario Bellini views design as an integrative act that unites function, aesthetics, and the relationship with the environment to transform an object into an element that, while meeting practical needs, becomes part of a larger narrative: that of people’s everyday lives.
