Faye Toogood and Tacchini: a creative journey
Creative, non-conformist, and instinctive, Faye Toogood is one of contemporary design’s boldest and most recognisable personalities. Animated by a genuine passion for nature, which has accompanied her since she was a child, Faye refuses to be tied to a single discipline or a single way of working; in her London studio, she moves from interior design to household objects, from fine arts to fashion guided by an infallible instinct, which pushes her to experiment with materials and to blend ideas with the group of architects, sculptors, blacksmiths and illustrators who collaborate with her.

“At the heart of the Toogood studio is a tactile and unpretentious love of materials. As I have often said before, who are we to say that gold is more precious than tin? If you can make something look good in canvas, it will look good in cashmere. A huge part of my work has been focused on creating “wow” out of ubiquitous, simple, basic materials. For Cosmic my starting points were canvas, metal mesh, and paper.”
This year Faye collaborated with Tacchini on a collection that blends creativity, empathy, and a deep respect for each other’s thinking: “Tacchini are titans of Italian design. Since the sixties, they have led with impeccable craft and ultra-modern ideas. It’s a pleasure to join la famiglia of iconic designers who have found kindred spirits in the Tacchini clan.”
The desire to work together was immediate, for Faye “I find their archive incredibly glamorous, but not stuffy or untouchable. It’s their sense of play that I connected with and wanted to lean into with this collaboration and for Giusi, CEO and Art Director Tacchini: “This project was a dynamic and synergistic process, guided by mutual trust and shared commitment to excellence, an extraordinary experience that combines Faye’s vision with Tacchini’s know-how.”
Solar, the sofa at the center of the collection which at first glance seems like a mountain of cushions, represents “a wonderful meeting point between Made in Italy luxury and the informality typical of Toogood.” And it is precisely here that the playful, tactile, and non-conformist spirit that animates the entire collaboration.” Tacchini upholstery is impeccable: “divine fabrics, perfect upholstery. The rebel in me wanted to subvert this sublimity and bring an almost-sagging squishiness to my designs. I think Solar is a wonderful combination of Italian-made luxury and Toogood informality. A padded pile of cushions inviting you to crash land on.”
